Margaret Haugen’s, Summer 2005 Day Trips with David,
(Not in any order, during August, September and early October)

*
Leavenworth in the red GT across highway 2. We visited many shops and had a drink at a café’ before returning, side trip into the Sultan river basin on return
and then had burgers with Joan and Family
*
Mt. St. Helens, Windy Ridge. A long drive as we took many back roads, but it was a beautiful day. We listened to the Ranger’s talk for a while and then bought hot dogs to eat in the car their near the ridge before leaving. We had dinner at the Spaghetti House in Lynnwood with Steve and Family upon return.
*
Museum of Flight, where you saw a large variety of planes and also old Hydroplanes.
*
Snoqualmie Falls and the Salish Lodge. You had salmon dinner and saw the falls. You thought that souvenir rocks were chocolates. The waiter took a copy of Grandpa’s menu, a 100 time’s cheaper 75 years ago for dinner than at the Salish Lodge. We drove through the new homes on the ridge and saw TCP golf course.
*
Alderbrook Inn for lunch, and walk on the dock. We also listened to a live band during lunch and sat out on the deck for a while before leaving. We drove through Belfair and down the lower east arm of Hoods Channel on the way. On our return, we stopped at the state capitol and went inside for our own un-guided tour. You got to see the John A. Cherberg Building of Public Lands and Social Security Building
*
Pier 66 Cruise Ship Terminal and Anthony’s Restaurant. We watched as they loaded the large cruise ship and had drinks in Anthony’s bar before being joined by Steve for dinner.
*
Laconner and Anacortes and the Ferry to Orcas Island. We split a salmon lunch at a restaurant overlooking the slough, drove into Anacortes, where 1000’s of bikers had gathered for the day and walked on to the Ferry to Orcas Island which made stops at Shaw and Lopez, and then returned. We had dinner at O’Brien’s Turkey house on the way back by 7:30pm.
*
Tulalip Lodge for dinner and to the Horton’s for Ashley’s birthday. This was just for part of the day to the Horton’s so that they could give Ashley her birthday present.
*
Monroe Fair and to see Maxine. We went to see Ashley, but missed her riding, so we just toured the exhibits and met up with Trish and Ashley for dinner. We “dropped in” on Max on the way back. She just loves it when we drop in without calling, but had a nice visit anyway.
*
Doris Schlect’s new apartment. I took you up to see Doris at her new apartment on Minor and left you there for a while when I ran out to get something to eat. We were not there for long anyway, but she enjoyed seeing you again.
*

Westport and the Pacific Ocean beaches. We stopped in Westport to see the bay from an overlook and got some fudge. Heading south, we stopped several times at the beach access areas to sit and view the ocean. We sat as close as 25 yards or so. We drove south to Raymond and then back to Chehalis. Upon returning to Seattle, we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with Steve. You and I shared Salmon again.

Photos of some of these trips are in the gallery section of this site on pages 14, 15 & 16.
